Description

The HA73EQ presents the complete classic British recording channel in its exact historic form, nothing more and nothing less, with an asking price that sets an unprecedented value for a preamp channel strip of this quality.  For generations, the classic ‘73 equalizer has been regarded for its rich, musical qualities and its ability to dramatically improve the sound of almost any source.  No corners were cut inside or out, and customers can expect the same sonic quality and feel they have come to appreciate from Heritage Audio.

With 80 dB of available gain and dedicated mic, line, and instrument inputs; the HA73EQ has everything you need to bring microphones and instruments to life with vintage vibe and thickness.

The HA73EQ’s preamp section features gain, output trim, -20db pad, polarity reverse, a high pass filter, and +48v phantom power.  The HA73EQ’s EQ section features a high shelving EQ, midrange EQ, low shelving EQ, a variable high pass filter, and EQ Bypass, engineered in strict accordance to the historic original design.  The HA73EQ comes housed in a rugged 1RU chassis and utilizes an external power supply for low noise operation.  The HA73EQ features Carnhill input and output transformers, Carnhill inductors, high quality pots and switches, and best of all is 100% hand-made by Heritage Audio.

What is the Elite Series?

The Heritage Audio Elite series represents a new level of affordability in high quality, classic console preamp and equalizer reproductions, and is the culmination of all our years of research and experience in building reproductions of the world’s most beloved classic recording channels.  When we began to develop this product line, we knew from the beginning what we could and could not do in the pursuit of making these modules less costly to manufacture.  We would not compromise on the ingredients that go in to our designs.  We knew would need to maintain the best quality components throughout, from the switches and potentiometers to the Carnhill transformers and inductors, to semiconductors and quality, long-life capacitors.  We knew that we would need to maintain the same sonic pedigree established by our existing product line of hand-wired, hand-assembled reproductions.  Most important of all, we knew that if we wanted to put the Heritage Audio name on these products, we could not send the manufacturing ‘offshore’ in order to save money.  Craftsmanship is a part of the Heritage Audio reputation; and we knew that to maintain our level of quality, we had to make these products here.

So what is different?

A peek inside any Elite Series product will reveal a more modern, high-tech design and production standard.  We’ve utilized precision automation to populate PCBs, using surface-mount technology (SMT), and reduced the amount of hand-wiring and hand-assembly to a minimum.  While the Elite Series may sport manufacturing techniques not available in the era of which these classic products originate, what has remained the same is the overall design, build quality, component quality, and most importantly the sonic quality of the originals.  It is our hope that the Elite Series will make these classic recording channels available to a new generation of sound engineers, and provide a lifetime of great recordings.
