The Eve Audio SC204 2-Way 4" Active Studio Monitor incorporates innovative technology and design to deliver a truly professional monitor speaker.
The SC204 are the smallest speakers in the EVE Audio range with a 4 inch woofer, and are ideal for the home, or in music or post-production studios. The sound delivered is surprisingly big despite the small footprint, which makes these a great pair of primary or secondary reference monitors. The SC204 also have convenient threaded screw inserts on the bottom and the back to allow mounting on a regular microphone or speaker stand, and a back plate for wall mounting.
The SC204, like all EVE Audio monitors, are built on proprietry technology to the highest standards. The results of critical listening tests, as well as technical analysis, have produced monitors that can truly deliver in the studio, as well as translate to all listening environments. Innovative features and design are common to the range, including glass fibre coated SilverCone woofers, Air Motion Tweeters, high-performance bass ports, intuitive DSP control, and speaker protection.
The SC204 uses a 4" SilverCone woofer with honeycomb structured diaphragm, driven by a sophisticated low distortion copper cap magnet system with a 1" voice coil responsible for creating a greater linear excursion. This produces a bigger dynamic than one would assume in a monitor of such small proportions. As a result, in addition to the unsurpassed audio transparency of our proprietary AMT tweeter and PWM amplifier combination, this SC204 will surprise you with a very powerful, tight and precise low end.
Our AMT tweeter is our own proprietary technology that follows the rule of no off-the-shelf components in order to achieve superior results. The preciseness and detail of the high frequency range of EVE monitors, coupled with the general tightness of the bass and mid-range, make the SC204 a superb speaker that is easily used on the road (due to its reduced size) or as a second pair of speakers for your main setup.
All EVE Audio monitors feature a high-resolution DSP electronics. A high-quality analog/digital converter from BurrBrown (24bit/192kHz) converts the analog input signal supplied via RCA or XLR. The DSP ensures latency-free filtering and simultaneously protects the entire frequency range from overload. When switched on, the volume of the monitor increases slowly to leave enough time to reduce the source volume if the input signal is too loud.
Adjustments to the acoustic environment can be made via the front rotary/pressure encoder, the SMART-knob with rotating LED ring. This knob allows the levelling of system volume as well as the adjustment of filters for room variables (low shelf, mid eq and high shelf filters). All settings are displayed on the LED ring, providing instant information about the selected values. The brightness of the LED ring can be adjusted for dark studios or video applications.
High-quality Class D amplifiers complete the system and deliver enough power to the demands of modern music production. Selected volume and/or filter settings can be independently fixed with DIP-switches that are positioned on the rear of the amplifier to prevent unauthorised or unintentional adjustments.
It's all in the geometry. One of the downside effects of port compression is bass distortion. As you turn up the volume, the efficiency of the port reduces and distortion will increase.
Eve Audio opted for a large rear rectangular port with no hard edges for our bass port designs. That's one of the reasons EVE monitors have a high efficiency on the lower frequencies.
The results? High sound pressures with tight and punchy bass frequencies that don't cause port distortion. Crank up the volume, and EVE will deliver a round bass. And with no holes to look at every time you glance at your speakers.
